Dnd 5e paper monsters8/3/2023 First, building a collection can be very expensive. While many prefer pre-painted plastic miniatures, they suffer from a few problems. A great many DMs and players prefer candy. Others, myself included, claim you can run large elaborate battles with nothing but a quick diagram on a sheet of paper and some good narrative. Some swear by a large collection of pre-painted miniatures. What to use to represent characters and monsters when running combat in D&D is a constant and continual conversation among D&D enthusiasts. I have enough now that I can supply the tokens for my DM's encounters and he doesn't have to worry about it.New to Sly Flourish? Start Here! Crafting Lazy Monster Tokens for D&D I store mine paper-clipped to alphabetized index cards for easy retrieval, but there's probably other good ways. You're definitely on the right track here. Standup minis are lots more visible and movable than flat tokens. Paper minis are great because they can exactly match the monster you need, including custom monsters with Googled art. Index cards are great because they're stiff enough to stay on the table and because you really never need to print out an entire page of tokens at a time - you need like "3 more kobolds" or "a gray ooze, two tieflings, and a barbed devil." If anyone can use it I'll post the Word documents I use to print these (they have tables with the right-sized cells so you can print 1-inch tokens for Medium creatures, 2x2 for Large (that's four times the size, so they really loom over your PC's minis) and one that prints Huge creatures on 4圆 index cards. The most basic mook monster types (skeletons, kobolds, hobgoblins, zombies) are found in the free Castle Shadow collection that you can try out. I use Fiery Dragon Counter Collection images, which I copy and paste into Word, print out on 3x5 cards, cut out and stand up in a sandwich-board shape (you can see some from a distance here). r/boardgames - Boardgames that isn't TTRPGs.Hide "Table Troubles"-threads Related Subreddits Hide promo)-threads - (Crowdfunding, Free, Product, Self Promotion) You can discuss these Weekly Free Chat-thread.ĪMA Guide tips if you want to hold an AMA Filters Off-Topic: Book trade, Boardgames, wargames, video games are generally off-topic.Comments deemed abusive may be removed by moderators.
